Richard Albert, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ottawa’s Carleton University in 1969 and then continued his education with extensive travel in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

For the next 20 years, designing and making furniture was his first career begun after an extensive course of study with the Guildhall School of the Worshipful Company of Carpenters, Joiners and Stone Masons, located in London, England.

During this period, Richard met his life mentors and began the inner journey of the spirit which has remained his abiding passion. He also developed during this period a keen interest in horses, horsemanship and the Art of equitation.

In 1980, Richard began taking regular Alexander lessons in response to a need to improve his own health, energy level, poise and co-ordination. In 1987, he commenced the three year full-time Alexander Teacher Training course at an approved school near London, England.

Returning to Canada in 1993, Richard opened The Ottawa-Hull Centre for The Alexander Technique (OHCAT). In addition to teaching The Alexander Technique to private clients in Ottawa-Hull, he has served as ‘Assistant to the Director’ at the Alexander Teacher Training School in Montréal, Quebec.

Richard is a member of The Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists (ANN) based in Bromont near Montreal. Consequently, Alexander lessons delivered at The Ottawa-Hull Centre for The Alexander Technique are insurance covered by extended health care plans, under the Naturopath category
