This shot well shows the setting on Birkrigg Common. The stones stand on a broad grassy carpet, mottled with patches of bracken, still dead in the early spring in this photograph.

The Druid's Temple

The common slopes down from the circle to the waters of Morecambe Bay, on the English coast of the Irish Sea. What a spectacular sight. There must be good reason associated with the sitings of so many circles in places commanding amazing views. I suppose a primitive, pantheist, nature-worshipping society will find increased attraction to a spot where so much of mother nature is on display.....
