Here is a photograph of Swinside in all its glory. I was standing up the slope from the stones, which helped capture the sweep of the circle. A larger panoramic view of Swinside is on the next page.
Burl describes this circle as one of the finest in Western Europe. He has seen enough to make a good comparison too. The tallest stone (at 2.3 metres) is on the left hand edge of the circle in this photograph. Also note the "entrance" on the far side of the circle.
