One more update. - August 6, 2004

One new file, a Drizzt NPC for BG1, has been sent in by Collins. You can get it from the BG1 Characters section.

I'm not dead. - May 15, 2004

I'm not dead, although perhaps that may have been the only acceptable excuse for neglecting the site for so long. My apologies to all the file-makers who have been waiting months to have their submissions posted, and my apologies to all the visitors who have been waiting for the next update.

It's been roughly half a year since the last time I updated, and I don't plan on ever leaving the site unattended so long again. However, I also don't see a whole lot of life in the future of Arundor's Abode. Modding is now the focus of Infinity Engine editing, and attention has shifted away from the simple item, spell and creature editing that have always been the domain of Arundor's Abode. I'll still be here, posting files that get sent in, but to be honest I don't see anything spectacular in the future of this site.

So, now, on to the file updates:

Greysteil has sent in an item called the Hammer of Kharas. You can get that from the BG2 Weapons section.
Josh has also updated his Vault mini-mod for BG1 to version 4. You can download it from the BG1 Miscellaneous section.

And, another long overdue update... - November 10, 2003

Link's Cheat Script has beem moved to its proper location, the IWD1 Scripts section. Sorry about the mix-up, Link.

We also have two files by Arawn Chen for Baldur's Gate II. A new item, The Master Sword, and an updated version of the FourBlade. Check them out in the BG2 Weapons section.

And last but not least, The Sorcerers Place has been added to the Arundor's Abode links sections. The Sorcerers place is a great site for news, files and information the Infinity Engine games as well as other CRPG's such as Neverwinter Nights and Temple of Elemental Evil.

Reports of my death were highly exaggerated... - October 6, 2003

After being AWOL for quite some time, I have a few custom file updates for you:

DarkSwordXIX has sent in a pack of 5 items for Baldur's Gate II.  You can download that from the BG2 Miscellaneous section.

The Baldur's Gate SuperScript by Mike Prilla has been updated to version 1.9.  You can get that from the BG1 Scripts section.

A CheatScript for Baldur's Gate II has been sent in by Link.  You can find that in the BG2 Scripts section.

The Vault package by Josh for Baldur's Gate I has been updated to version 3.01.  It adds and modifies various items throughout the game, and it now includes a new subquest called The Vestibule.  Download it from the BG1 Miscellaneous section.

Let me also take this opportunity to highlight a couple of Infinity Engine modding related news items.

Firstly, I'll point out the release of "BG1TuTu" by japheth.  It's basically a "BG one to two" converter, hence the name.  Assuming you already have BG1 and BG2, this small 1 meg download will allow you to play the Baldur's Gate I game in the Baldur's Gate II engine.  So now you can play throught the original BG1 story, but still get the benefits of the BG2 engine, higher resolution support, dual-wielding, kits, and so on.

Secondly, I'd like to draw your attention to Cilantro's Restoration Project for Planescape Torment.  Although it's low profile in comparison to many other projects, I hope that mentioning it might help breathe even a small amount of life back into Torment.  Although the fact that Black Isle dropped the title may lead some to believe that Torment is a poor game, it truly is a fantastic game that received great praise from the majority of reviewers and players.  Cilantro's effort to bring life back to Torment is a worthy one.

My absence... - July 2, 2003

Due to circumstances beyond my control I will be away for two weeks, until July 16th. During that time I will be unable to post any updates to the site, respond to any e-mails, or answer any questions on the forum.

I'll update the site upon my return.

Two custom file updates... - June 16, 2003

We have two custom file updates for you today.

The Vault pack by Josh for Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast has been updated to version 3.0. Among other things, it has 30 items, new stores, and modified creature encounters. Drop by the BG1 Miscellaneous section to check it out.

The SuperScript by Mike Prilla for Baldur's Gate 1 has now also been updated to version 1.8. You can get that in the BG1 Scripts section

And, even though I've been saying this for a while now, let me repeat I will have updates on the Featured Mod and Featured Custom File for you soon. This is a busy time in my life right now, but don't worry, I'm not just speaking nonsense when I tell you I'll have updates. I will get the new content ready as soon as I can.

E-Mail change and other stuff... - June 12, 2003

I apologize for the lack of updates over the last several days. Apparently something went wrong with my my e-mail account, so I've been unable to receive your submissions. I don't know exactly how long this e-mail problem has existed, but it could be as long as 3 weeks, since the last update.

Until I get this problem sorted out, I can be contacted via a temporary e-mail address: arundor@hotmail.com. If you sent any mail to my normal address within the last 3 weeks, I would suggest you re-send it to the new address. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Now that I'm aware of this e-mail problem and have a secondary account set up, I should receive more submissions and have more updates for you soon. I've also been a bit lazy in updating the Featured Mod and Featured Custom File, but I'll see that it gets done soon.

I'll have more updates for you as soon as possible. Keep watching.

Featured custom file fix and new custom files... - May 21, 2003

Apparently I forgot the upload the repackaged version of Nimrod's Grimoire for the featured custom file. Sorry about that. The correct version is up now, so if you downloaded the grimoire before, you may want to get it again now.

There's also a new item for you, the sword Orcrist for Baldur's Gate I, created by E. Johanobesus. It is based on one of the swords from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit". You can get it in the BG1 Weapons section. The Baldur's Gate I SuperScript by Mike Prilla has also been upgraded to version 1.7. You can grab that in the BG1 Scripts section.

Featured file update and other custom file news... - May 18, 2003

You probably already noticed, but TeamBG.com and TeamBG.net are now both back in action. The TeamBG utilities are back up for download and the TeamBG forums are functional again.

On a related topic, Deano from TeamBG is making an effort to bring back TeamBG Kick-Ass, a custom file hosting service. TBG-KA existed several months ago, and was a very successful custom file site. It was unlike all the others, such as Arundor's Abode, because it allowed users to upload custom files by themselves, without having to wait for a webmaster to post them. Unforutnately, the TBG-KA server went down a few months ago, and has remained down ever since. Deano's attempted revival of TBG-KA has currently taken the form of a public FTP server. For those of you who are interested in using it and know how FTP works, it can be found here: ftp://80.162.234.201. Log in as anonymous.

On another note, the featured custom file has been updated again. We are now featuring Nimrod's Grimoire, a very impressive spell pack for Baldur's Gate I. Click here for more information. Keep watching the Featured Custom File and Featured Mod sections for future updates.

IE modding utility links... - May 8, 2003

With TeamBG.net now also experiencing difficulties, the link I provided in the previous news update will no longer work. You can, however, still download DLTCEP from its home website, DragonLanceTC.com. Just follow the "DLTCEP" link from the menu bar of that site, then click the "DLTCEP (Item Checker) Update Thread" link.

Now may also be a good time to draw your attention to some of the available non-TeamBG customization tools. The DLTCEP utility mentioned above is able to edit a great many Infinity Engine file types, but there are also a few other very useful modding tools still available out there:

Near Infinity is an Infinity Engine resource browser and editor. It can view every file type associated with the Infinity Engine, and is able to edit most of them.

WeiDU is a powerful utility for dialogue and script creation as well as mod installation. As one proponent of WeiDU says, it is "Superior in every way to other tools."

New custom files, featured custom file update... - May 2, 2003

We have new a Baldur's Gate II custom item for you called Arabel's Huggable Bear. It was created by Greysteil and MandyKatz based on information from TSR'S Encyclopedia Magica Volume One. Check it out in the BG2 Miscellaneous section.

On another note, many of you have noticed that the TeamBG.com website is down. For now, you can access the TeamBG forums and some of the utilities from TeamBG.net. In particular, many have asked how how to import the custom files found on this site since you can't get the Infinity Engine Editor from TeamBG.com. To import the TBG and IAP files, you can use a utility called DLTCEP. The TeamBG.net "Tools" section links to it.

Finally, you may also notice that the Featured Custom File of this site has been updated. We are now featuring the Gambler's Gift dagger by Namelessone for Baldur's Gate II. Look above for more information on that, and keep watching for future updates to the featured custom file and featured mod sections.

Website redesign and custom file update... - April 20, 2003

Hello! As the frequent visitors will no doubt have already noticed, Arundor's Abode has undergone a major design overhaul. I hope the new design will be a little cleaner and faster to load. I've also attempted to make the site look slightly more professional. I'm hoping I succeeded, I wouldn't want the site to look like a cheap rip-off.

Of note, take a look at the Featured Mod and Featured Item just a little up the screen. These are new sections that have been introduced in this website overhaul. You might want to take a peek at them. I plan to update these to feature a new mod and custom file every once in a while.

There's also a custom file update for you today. "Willy's Complete 3-Pack" for Icewind Dale by TrueWilly has been updated. Check it out in the IWD Miscellaneous section.
