Thank you to everyone who attended Spirit of Toronto 2011 — Toronto’s premiere tasting event will return to Roy Thomson Hall on

Saturday, May 12th  2012!!!

Spirit of Toronto is a spectacular, once-a-year evening that features a dazzling array of 100 plus single malts and premium spirits, tutored tastings, live jazz and bossa nova, a gourmet table d’hotel from Daniel et Daniel, classic cocktails, and a poolside cigar bar on the outdoor lower level of Roy Thomson Hall, weather permitting.

2011 Highlights included…

Early Admission: Spirit of Toronto opened its doors early so that patrons could attend one of 4 pre-show masterclasses being presented from 5:30 to 6:30pm, and then enjoy priority entry to the main tasting halls.

2011 Masterclass Series: Spirit of Toronto was pleased to present a choice of 11 masterclasses on the lower level of Roy Thomson Hall, 45-minute tutored tastings that offered patrons the opportunity to explore a full range of spirits including Scotch, Canadian whisky and bourbon, as well as cognac and rum.

The Glenlivet 70 Year Old: Michael Urquhart from Gordon & MacPhail thrilled and surprised patrons attending his masterclass “Speyside Greats” with a sample of one of the world’s oldest and rarest whiskies.

Classic Cocktails: Spirit of Toronto welcomed Tokyo cocktail designers Yuki Yamazaki and Kentaro Wada as they prepared classic whisky cocktails, complete with hand carved Japanese Ice Balls.

Blind Whisky Challenge: Regis Lemaitre returned to put forth a seemingly straightforward question: Single Malt, Grain Whisky or Blend? Challengers had 15 minutes to identify 3 blind samples, providing an educational tasting experience for all.

Whisky Shots! Spirit of Toronto was excited to have Massey Bros Films host a video stand where guests reviewed their favourite samples of the evening to share with those who couldn’t make it!

The Canadian Whisky “All Stars” Collection: Spirits Canada presented our most premium whiskies in the American Express Lounge including Crown Royal XR, Canadian Club 30 Year Old, Wiser’s Red Letter and Gibsons’ 18 Year Old.
