Line

This illustrates the basic characteristic of quadrupole convolution, its response to a line.  The important characteristics are

  1. The linearity in a line is mostly constant throughout the line

  2. The linearity has an abrupt (theoretically discontinuous) change from inside a line to outside it.

  3. The linearity outside a line is much smaller than inside it.

The explanation of how quadrupole convolution works shows how these properties emerge, and how they lead to the capabilities discussed with the other examples.
