A
short snowmobiling season has come to an early end, due to unseasonably
warm weather in recent weeks. Mike Hunter was one of the North Renfrew
Snowmobile Association volunteers erecting "Trail Closed" signs over
the weekend - this one on the club's new trail paralleling the pipeline
off Wylie Road.

MARCH
24, 1982: Councillor Rusty Dillabough last week told Deep River council
that increased fees for Grouse Park could mean the end of some softball
teams. He warned that problems with the park management committee's
budget means that fees would have to be increased. Councillor Murray
McManus predicted the demise of minor hockey because of increased arena
rental fees.

The forecast is calling for the
humidity to fall next fall.
Deep
River's Community Centre was split down the middle in the 1970s, and
the costs of bringing what remains of it up to par will be split in two
again.
Deep
River and Laurentian Hills may be moving forward on economic
development, but one area the two towns are not seeing eye-to-eye on is
the question of how much each municipality should pay for garbage
disposal.
MPP
John Yakabuski says the province's plan to increase licence fees on
Ontario drivers is “not only bad policy, it's blatantly unfair.”
