Local woman killed in
crash
Highway
17 was closed for almost six hours last Thursday as police investigated
a fatal accident between Chalk River and the Petawawa Forestry.
OPP say Pat Harvey, 72, of Deep River died at the scene when her
eastbound Ford Focus collided with a westbound GMC Sierra pickup.
The driver of the pickup, Joe Torlone, 57, and passenger Jack Watson,
64, both of Timmins, were taken to hospital in Deep River with minor
injuries.
The highway was closed from approximately 11:15 am to 5:15 pm.
The Laurentian Hills fire department as well as Renfrew County
paramedics assisted at the scene.
OPP traffic collision investigators are assisting with the
investigation. The cause of the crash has not been released.
