Man charged in robbery
A 37-year-old man faces multiple
charges following an armed robbery at a local convenience store in
Chalk River.
The Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the OPP say an armed male entered
DJ's Variety at approximately 4:40 pm, on Tuesday, November 15.
Police say the man demanded cash, and then stole cigarettes and an
undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
As a result, Gary Huston, 37, of no fixed address has been charged with
robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent, and two counts of
possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 contrary to the
Criminal Code. Huston was held in custody
pending a bail hearing.
Constable Mike Mahon is the investigating officer, and is being
assisted by the Renfrew County Crime Unit. The investigation is
continuing.
