Man charged in robbery
A Deep River man faces multiple
charges following an armed robbery at a local gas station last week.
Deep River Police Acting Sergeant Darin Faris said police were called
to the Petro Canada gas bar on Highway 17 at about 11 pm last
Wednesday, December 21.
A man wearing a disguise and holding a knife had entered the business
and demanded the employee hand over the money from the cash register.
Once the employee complied, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
Deep River Police, with the assistance of the OPP's Emergency Response
Team and canine unit, conducted an extensive ground search for the
suspect.
The search led to a warrant being executed on a residence in town,
where an adult male was arrested and charged with robbery and wearing a
disguise with the intent to commit an offence.
The man's name has not been released.
Faris thanked the OPP teams for their quick response to the incident
and their help in bringing the search to a quick result.
