Public to get look at draft Plan

by Vance Gutzman

Residents of Deep River will be able to get up close and personal with the town's new Official Plan (OP).

The town has been working on upgrades to the master planning document for the course of the past year, as per provincial mandate that it conduct a review every five years of the OP.

The draft official plan has been posted on the town's website and an open house for the public to study it further will be held Wednesday, January 18, from 6-7 pm.

A subsequent public meeting, at which time comments can be made on the plan, will be held a week later, on Wednesday, January 25, at 6 pm.

A meeting will also be held in the near future, though a date has not yet been set, to discuss a proposed community improvement plan (CIP) for the town.

"It's a tool we can offer to promote development that might not otherwise take place," Deputy Mayor Daniel Banks said of the CIP concept.
