Deep River Community Association

Since its inception in 1950 the Deep River Community Association Inc. has been an integral part of Deep River life.  It is involved in, and sponsors, a wide variety of social, cultural and recreational activities.  It is a non-profit organization, managed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

The Deep River Community Association Inc.

  • owns and operates the North Renfrew Times (circulation 2,250),
  • offers support and insurance to approximately 60 member clubs
  • leases and manages the Deep River Community Centre, which houses the Bowling Congress, Potters Guild, Deep River Rod and Gun Club and Hospital Auxiliary’s Whistle Stop
  • represents member clubs in Community Centre lease negotiations
  • represented member clubs dealing with increased costs for use of school facilities
  • hosts "Meet the Candidate" meetings (municipal, provincial and federal) in Deep River and Laurentian Hills
  • sponsors and maintains an on-line and in-office community events calendar
  • sponsors the July 1 Canada Day fireworks
  • from 1997 to 2002 operated the Deep River Craft Fair
  • presents the Cropley Shield and a prize of $1,000 in recognition of exceptional achievement by a DRCA club
  • owns a nine-foot Steinway grand piano, stored at the Childs’ Auditorium and is used by local and guest pianists for a fee
  • sponsors two bursaries of $500 each to current graduates of Mackenzie High School, enrolled in programs at a Canadian post-secondary institution
