Sparks Street looking West

Sparks Street looking West

Compare this image to a similar one taken in the late 19th century. The Scottish Ontario Chambers (at left) and the Langevin Block (at right) are present in both photographs. The imposing Postal Station B and several tall buildings now dominate the skyline, and everything West of Elgin in this area was demolished to make way for the Confederation Square, including the Russell House Hotel from which the early photograph was taken.
