Welcome to the Ottawa stereocard collection!
These are stereoscopic images -- two distinct images that give a three-dimensional
view. To view these images, it is best to print them out and view them with one of these contraptions:
Last time I checked, a modern-day economical replica of these hundred-year-old devices were available at the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, Ottawa (next to the Château Laurier). The images can also be viewed directly on a computer screen, provided you find a way to shorten or remove the protuding stick (otherwise one can't get close enough to the screen). Tilting the viewer vertically also allows the images to be seen, but it's a little awkward.
Alternatively, you may get another kind of viewer and use it directly on the screen, but I haven't tried this one. It seems short enough that you could bring it up closer to the screen, but I'm not sure the images would be right for it.
