These are the locks for the Rideau Canal, as seen going into the Ottawa River. The locks and the Rideau Canal were commissionned by the Duke of Wellington and executed by the fabled Colonel By. The project was completed in 1832 after five years of work. On the right is Laurier terrace and Parliament Hill stands on the left.
