Morning Star Children's Centre

Morning Star Children's Centre in Welkom, South Africa is a day care facility for children who are HIV positive. The goal is to help change the lives of as many HIV/AIDS children as possible and assist their families. Sixty children attend the Centre daily. The Centre also provides ongoing support for families.

Welkom is a city in the centre of the Free State. Until fairly recently this was a bustling mining town, but many of the mines have drastically down-scaled operations leaving 60% of the workforce unemployed. Many of the miners returned home leaving behind children and mothers without financial support.
