Sacred Heart Childrens' Home is in Mariannhill, South Africa. The home is run by the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi and is registered to take 80 children. The focus is on disadvantaged children of KwaZulu Natal province who have been orphaned, abandoned, neglected, HIV/AIDS infected or abused, and need a safe and nurturing environment.

After receiving a cheque from the Ottawa African AIDS Angels project, Sister Tholakele, a social worker at the Home, wrote on February 22, 2010:

Warm greetings from South Africa.

Wow, do you know how much in rands your donation became? It gave us R17 000. Thank you so much my dear ones. I am proud of you. On Friday we had a Board meeting and it was decided that this donation goes to a recreation area for the children. There has been a great need for a development of a recreational facility for children to play. Knowing that this facility will create a therapeutic environment for them, we urgently needed to prioritize this project. I hope to send you some photos of each step for this project. I appreciate your assistance. I informed our local Bishop Mlungisi Pius Dlungwane about your donation and he was very happy to hear that!!

God abundantly bless you at this Lent time.

Love, Sr. Thola

On April 13, 2010, Sister Thola let us know that "the fencing of our Children's safe Park has been carried out through your contribution."
