March 4, 2011

This year Christmas for the first time ever, all children were out with family/relatives, foster family, friends which  had been screened by social workers. The African families mostly and if possible are very kind and like to take on still another child to their already large family.

By the 20th of January when the schools started, all children had returned. Many had infections, have skin sores and had lost weight. In the meantime they are settled in again in their respective cottages: "Morning Star", "House of Angels", and the boys in "Emandleni" like the Strong boys. They like their meals and are healing. The children with the immundeficiency syndrome take much longer to  heal and recuperate and need many visits to the hospital. All are now in school and most are happy to be back with their friends, having their own bed and regular good meals. The AIDS infected children are getting their medication on time and are looking good. They are well besides occasional side effects from the medication like pain and fits. New comers to the Creche are very poorly, small and malnourished and often infected with the Virus.

Every child is a challenge to us. We are getting a third teacher to help them with home work, give extra tuition and teach life skills. Successful children will then be able to help their families to break the vicious circle of poverty.

The donation from the African AIDS Angels is gratefully received and makes so much more possible concerning care and development.

Please convey our sincere thanks to all involved. May you and your families be richly blessed for the good you do.

Sincerely
Sr. Immaculate Ndlovu CPS
