Ontario's Forgotten
History - Photos by Tom Carmody
As described in the 1998 newspaper article,
Caledonia Springs was the place to be and be seen in the late
19th and early part of the 20th century. But today, virtually
nothing remains of that past glory. Absolutely everything that
was built for the benefit of the tourists including the hotels,
golf course, horse racing track, and the railway station as well
as those seeking the health benefits of the springs are gone.
These pictures were taken
in 1998 and 1999 and stand as mute testament to how even recent
history can disappear from view in only a few generations.
School house
- no longer calling students to class.
The interior
of the school illustrates the current status of local history
in Ontario.
Another School
house - abandoned on the Caledonia Road
A winter and
fall view of the another school?
All that remains
of the water bottling plant.
