Fanfare Regatta

Still smarting from sunburned shoulders after this mid-August regatta (that took place in mid-September) its time to write down a few details while their still fresh in my mind.

Here, in no specific order, are the highlights:

• Mike & Steve owned this regatta. Impressively consistant race after race. But they always had to work for it :)
• Yes, you can get a sunburn in September. Sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-twenties both days. Lovely!
• 10 races in one weekend feels like an awful lot (and its all now a blur)
• Steph "The Dude" turned 40, an event which was celebrated at a most excellant party Saturday night. Thanks Gary!
• The biggest gust of the weekend was probably about 10 knots. But it was always sailable. Saturday was a bit lighter than Sunday.
• Weeds suck. Just ask Trish and Andy. Fixed rudder. Enough said.
• Gary and Steph had their moment of glory when they lead to the windward mark in one race Sunday.
• 5o5s seem to have a thing for general recalls. And it really sucks when they catch you on a reaching leg, rolling over top like a freight train.
• Just locals for this regatta, but we managed to get 6 out. Rumour had it that Stress Puppy would visit from Montreal, but...
