Background
The Chippendale Sofa came from the Nova Scotia Museum. It is believed
that the sofa is a genuine
Chippendale. When the sofa first came to us it
was all in pieces. What stretchers remained were badly broken. A lot
of the gorgeous carving on the arms and legs was damaged or missing. All
the joints were loose or broken.
The Process

The sofa had to be completely dismantled and then rebuilt. We had to
repair all the broken stretchers and carvings. We also had to reproduce
the missing stretchers and carvings. Many of the joints had to be rebuilt.
