Prerequisites
I assume here that the student is already familiar with the basic rudiments of music. This
includes note names, treble and bass clefs, intervals, time signatures and the names of the
degrees of the scale. Triad types and figured bass symbols are discussed when they are first
introduced, but only briefly.
There are many good texts on music rudiments which you can use to learn the basic music
theory. If you enjoy working on the web, here are some
links to good on-line resources for elementary theory and ear
training.
