CO-OP Building
|
The CO-OP building was located halfway between the Gulf and Texaco bulk plants between the Station Track and the Team Track. It was served by a short spur which switched off of the station track just west of the switch leading into the shed (Freight Shed) track. The building was located at the end of this short spur on the north side of the track.
The CO-OP building was an insul-brick clad building with a normal entry door on the west side and a larger freight door on the south side of the building. It was supported on a series of concrete piles which brought the floor of the building up level with cars spotted on the siding. I have christened this building the CO-OP building since a small sign on it read CO-OP. I have no idea of the actual function of this build, or of its origins. Neither the building nor the siding it is on appear in the 1929 AER plan book.
By 1997 all traces of this building had been removed.
