Texaco Agency
|
About three quarters of the way around the station track curve, the team track branched off to the south of the station track. The team track was 743 feet long and was laid with 80 pound rail. This track is also shown on a 1913 map of the Algoma Eastern Terminals Little Current layout published in the October 1913 edition of Canadian Railway and Marine World, making it one of the original tracks laid when the railway was first built.

Little Current Team Track
|
The Canadian Oil Company leased 0.424 acres on the south side of the track about 250 feet from the switch, being part of Lot 10 of the AER Terminals property and built a bulk plant on the site. By the mid-seventies this bulk plant was the Texaco agency. The upper photo was taken in 1976 standing in front of the Co-op building and looking southeast. The Texaco plant was somewhat larger than the Gulf plant at the end of the Team Track and cars being unloaded were spotted right beside the property. Of course if a car was spotted at the Texaco plant when one of Gulf's cars showed up, it would have to be moved out of the way.
The second photo on this page is looking down the Team Track from the switch towards the Texaco and Gulf Agencies. Notice that the straight leg of the switch leads to the Team Track. The curved leg continues around a few more degrees to become the station track.
By 1997 all traces of the Texaco bulk plant had been removed. We are unsure however what the removal date was.
