The Algoma Eastern Railway Alltime Roster

Part 1: Locomotives                                                 Part 2: Freight Cars                                        Part 3: Passenger Cars

If you like light steam engines the AER is the railroad for you. The AER never owned anything larger than a consolidation. The data for locomotives 40 to 56 is courtesy Dale Wilson, from his book Algoma Eastern Railway, Nickel Belt Rails 1977.  The AER had other locomotives than those shown hear judging from the number of locomotives shown in the various Official Railway Equipment Registers (ORER).  These "other" locomotives were most likely leased or borrowed from either the  AER's sister road, the Algoma Central & Hudson Bay or from the CPR.

Number 58 is an example of such a locomotive.  The accompanying photo of number 58, taking from a snapshot recently obtained by the author, indicates that she was a slide valve equipped 2-8-0.  Other than that, nothing is known about her.  The location of the photograph is also unknown, but is not on either the AER or the AC& HB as neither road ever had a transfer table.  Anyone having further information on this, or any other locomotives of the AER is asked to contact the author of this site..
