Dr. Peter A.F. Morrin, 1931-2007

Dr. Peter Morrin's funeral was held Friday, October 12th, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. A reception followed at the Morrin residence.

Though not an overtly religious person, my father was a man of deep faith. His funeral mass was probably the only thing that really would have mattered to him. And what a wonderful celebration it was of a life well lived!

For those who couldn't attend, and for those who did, but would like a reminder, below are selected parts of the mass:

We would like to thank all those who made made this such a special tribute, including:

  • Reverend Terry Boyle, Monsignor Joseph Lynch, Reverend William Burns, Monsignor Don Clement, Reverend Paul McEvoy & Monsignor Bernard Walsh.
  • Organist, Professor Norman Brown
  • Cantor, Tim Torgerson
  • Janet Hardy, who provided the flowers.
  • All of our friends and family, from far and near, who were able to join us.
  • Those friends and family who were with us in spirit and in prayers, but who could not make it to Kingston for whatever reason.

A Memorial Mass was also held October 22nd in University Church, which was the parish church of the Morrin Family. Noel and Kate Lyons wrote, "It was celebrated by Father William, a Benedictine monk from Glenstal, Limerick, attended by close family and some of your Dad’s friends of yesteryear. The readings were delivered by Dr. Max Ryan, and Wallace Beatty, who was at St. Conleth’s school in Dublin and later Ampleforth school in Yorksire with Peter. Madeleine (Prendergast) read the Communion payers. It was a homely and upraising occasion, and we were very pleased to be there."
