Krakow is situated on the upper Vistula, on its left bank where the river meets the south eminence of the Krakow Jurassic rock.
Thousands of years ago, people found here good conditions for safe dwelling and development. Agriculture and crafts bloomed and was the junction of commercial routes from the south to the north and from the west to the east.
The annual temperature is (excluding the mountain area) between 6 and 9 deg C. Average temperatures in July swing from 17 deg to 19 deg and in January from 0 deg to 5 deg C. The number of days of frost is between 23 to 58.
