Originally developed for the aircraft industry,
Simplified English (or Standard Simplified English) is an approach to writing and editing
documents that uses restricted vocabulary and standardized sentence and paragraph
structure.
People all over the world can use aircraft manuals
written in Simplified English.
The processes developed for the aircraft industry
are now being applied more widely in the international economy.

"Simplified English" is an approach to writing (particularly manuals) which uses a restricted vocabulary and careful attention to parts of speech
and sentence structure to make English easier for inexperienced readers. This was widely
applied in the aircraft industry.
An approach to this would involve taking an existing piece of writing and "editing" it (as in editing
for readability).
The process would be something like
this
outline.
The AECMA Simplified English Manual order form is at http://www.air-transport.org/public/publications/43.asp
A tool to help writers do this is called Asset and it is available at http://www.piperdoc.co.uk/asset.htm
