I write software and have dabbled in web page design for what seems like decades. I started out hand coding pages and digressed to Golive CS2 CS3, which means that I continue hand coding.

Web designers who gauge their work exclusively on their own machines, are arrogant in their disregard.

It's valuable to learn from our mistakes. The tricky part is knowing how to make a mistake without doing anything wrong.
