CANADIAN HOT WHEELS REPORTS/COMMENTS
By: Vic Prochazka
Beats Me!

Don't blame Canada

March 27, 2000
As you can see by the list below, there is a lot we don't know about this year's Hot Wheels releases. And we can't even blame it on the fact that we live in the Great White North, either. Collector sites across North America can't seem to agree on anything, let alone the order of this year's First Editions. There is no Collector poster out yet, and details from Mattel are sketchy.

We had high hopes of being up to date with our American counterparts this year, and we're not doing too bad on that front. So far, they only have a few cars that we don't. Treasure Hunts have already been found here, and in enough numbers to suggest that they're not nearly as limited as Mattel would have us think. At least several of this year's models are rumoured to have Real Rider tires on them.

Interestingly enough, Mattel has introduced a new numbering system for 2000. All cars, both FE's and series cars, bear a 3-digit number on the back of the card in a box labelled "2000". If this trend persists through the mainline cars, we will have the first ever annual numbering system that works. We all remember the Collector Number disaster.
