So, for fun, I cycle quite a bit around Ottawa and the Gatineaus. I'm sometimes a member or the Ottawa Bicycle Club, although I tend to do most of my riding solo or with Susan. The main event for the year for the club and one that gets me in shape at the beginning of the year is the Rideau Lakes Tour which goes between Ottawa and Kingston. (180km each way.) This year (2005) will be my 15th time doing the tour.
I am down to 6 bikes now (it was 7!) and a unicycle. Why six bikes? Well, that's a very popular question, so here goes: 2 touring bikes (one old, one new), 1 fast road bike, 1 sport touring bike, 1 mountain bike and a hybrid commuting bike..
I do a fair bit of touring and I sometimes hang out on some touring bike listserv's and the rec.bicycles.rides newsgroup. Depending on where I reading/posting from I am, I was known as ggoodwin@nortelnetworks.com, but now go by whitey@magma.ca. I have posted some of my rides to the rec.bicycles.rides newsgroup. The reports are posted below and some of them have been touched up lately with html to make them more readable and include links to relevant sites.

in June. And I'm still debating on a week trip late in the summer.
- 2004 I rode the

in June. The
Rideau Lakes Tour again, and we drove out to PEI to the
Atlantic Canada
Bicycle Rally.
- 2003 I rode the Ottawa to Kennebunkport trip
in May. I also wanted to take my bike to South Korea in Feb., but that idea was
outvoted.
- 2002 I cycled from Ottawa to Kennebunkport Maine, then later in
the year, from 
Ottawa to Nova Scotia, just north
of Digby
to go to the Atlantic Canada
Bicycle Rally
- 2001 We cycled a lot in the Ottawa area and once again headed back
east to the Atlantic Canada
Bicycle Rally, this year in PEI. enRoute out East we retraced a lot of
sections that I had done the year before in my x-Canada trip.
- 2000 -Susan did the
BraunStorm
tour around Tobermory, Ontario and the
Atlantic
Canada Bicycle Rally in Nova Scotia. Myself, I took the summer off and
rode
across Canada.
- 1999 -Susan rode the
Cyclone trip from Toronto
to Ottawa and we both went to the
Atlantic
Canada Bicycle Rally in New Brunswick
- 1998 -PEI and Nova Scotia Tour
There are a few others from before 1992 that didn't get documented. I think my memory is a little faded from back then anyway.
