"All right, let's sum up." Lieutenant Penson was speaking to about a dozen policemen in the Sky Box they had used for surveillance.

"We have a crew dismantling the fire bombs. No one was hurt by those bombs. We have a second set of bombs that scared a lot of people in the concession area, but caused very few injuries and only water and smoke damage.

"The guys who blew the counting room got away clean. We have a description of their clothes and bags, but no pictures. ..."

Brnt, brnt, brnt.

Constable Robertson fumbled for his phone as Lt. Penson continued describing the situation.

"Robertson."

"Constable Robertson? This is John. Are you at the Sky Dome?" John sounded nervous.

"Yes."

"We've been following Rodney and Fred and the kidnappers with Fred's homemade radio direction finder, and they've stopped in a cul de sac a few blocks north of the Sky Dome. A guy with a backpack just arrived, and a guy with a briefcase came a couple of minutes ago. They seem to be waiting for someone else. Can you come quick? I'm afraid of what they might do to Fred and Rodney."

Constable Roarch was taking his turn following in sight of Paul's kidnappers. The guy in the front passenger seat took a brief cell phone call, and then the car turned off the street into the nearest alley.

As he drove past he could see the car approaching a "T" in the alley. He quickly radioed the other car and eased into an empty parking spot at the end of the block. Then he sprinted to the corner.

No car. Another quick sprint, then he peeked low around the corner of the alley, and there was the car. They roughly hauled Paul out, hands taped behind his back, waving guns around. Roarch radioed the other car to block the other end of the alley, fast.

They shoved Paul into a kneeling position, and forced his head down. As one guard raised a gun to Paul's head, Roarch pulled his own gun, yelling "Police! Freeze!"

They hesitated just a second, then piled back into the car, leaving Paul behind. The car spun its tires, racing out of the alley, and smashed into the arriving police car. With police in front and behind, the kidnappers surrendered.
