"Robertson?" The voice on the phone was familiar.

"Kedney? How are you?"

"I'm fine, Robertson, never felt better in my life. How 'bout yourself?"

"Great. Just great. I didn't expect to talk to you again today."

"Well, it's the weirdest thing. I think I bumped into one of your lads today."

"Which one?"

"He said a friend of his got beat up, maybe by a skinhead, and he and his buddies were being followed."

"OK. I didn't know they were being followed. Sounds like the right group and not John. Red hair or black?"

"Black."

"That makes it Fred. Rodney is the redhead."

"OK. Look. After meeting him, I can't turn you down. I have to help these kids. They seem to be afraid of skinheads because of a couple of rotten apples."

"So you'll help me get information on these guys?"

"Yup. But my main objection still stands. I can't pretend to work with these guys, cause they won't believe me. It's too much against my principles. And I can't be seen to be working with the police, so I can't even ask other people to do it for me. I have to do it another way."

"How's that?"

"I have some ideas but I have to check some stuff first."

"Fair enough. I'll just have to trust you."

"Yes, but I want you to talk to Fred for me."

"OK?"

"I told him I would have someone he trusts talk to him, and he could decide whether to trust me based on that. I meant you of course."

"Of course, I can do that. I've known you long enough to know whose side you are on in this fight."

"Thanks. I'll call you again."
