Fred was reading the announcements on the portal when he burst into song. "That ain't workin'. That's the way to do it! Your money for nothing and your kicks for free."

John looked up from his homework, frowned deeply, and spoke in a mock-serious tone. "Fred, at least try to follow the tune."

Rodney grinned, "That tune doesn't have a tune."

John protested, "Well, he won't break into rock and roll singing like that!"

Rodney retorted "He wasn't talking about rock and roll. He's reading about the PA team making a living by writing games and testing them. And I'm on his side."

"How did they get to do that anyway?"

"Dunno."

"We could look up their posts on the portal, look up their personal web pages. We could even write and ask." Rodney grinned, "We could even get marks for it, if we have an assignment were we write letters or learn about people's jobs."

Fred's eyes went round. "Cool! But we'd have to use snail mail. I don't think e-mail would count."

Rodney was thoughtful. "Some of those assignments are supposed to get us to do stuff for real, not just hand them in. I think printouts of e-mails would be OK. But we'd have to ask first, and we'd have to use school grammar and spelling, not 'NE' for any."

Fred grinned, "E-mail spelling isn't bad, but can you imagine the look on Mrs. Bishop's face if you handed in a dialog from IRC!"
